Unlike Eliot, I find January and February to be the cruellest months. (I know: there's no bad weather-- I just need the right clothes.) Rebecca's passing the month enjoying the routines of her life, and making lists of lists. Here's one of how I wait for spring:
Reading (old British mysteries--Marsh, Christie, etc.). Just after Christmas, I found a stack of old used ones at the library book sale.
Learning (Intellitools, continued). Last week, two of the technology staff taught a couple of us how to combine scanned book pages and imported audio to create a computerized reading experience for children who may not have the fine motor or cognitive skills to read a book on their own. The MacIntosh is a more user-friendly for this than Windows is. Alas, I now need to translate what I've learned to our home pc.
Baking, cooking, and eating
Visiting (in-between toilet training)
Planning (trying to improve effectiveness of my To Do lists, making appointments)
Doing laundry
Enjoying gifts--a new tea kettle, and two of Luci Shaw's latest (Accompanied by Angels, and What the Light Was Like)
* * * * *
And, last but not least, a little humor along the way.

Good for you - and take heart, January is almost done and then it's just February to get through, and it's short!
I enjoyed looking at Ngaio Marsh's homepage - her home was absolutely gorgeous!
I enjoy Christy but I've never read her. I'll have to give her a try.
Violet's right - Feb is short!
Thank you, Violet. It's the cloudy overcast skies, not the cold. :-)
Kathryn,
Those stately old houses are beautiful. They have a sense of history and Home.
I know, that's the great thing about February--and a reason to eat chocolate, right in the middle of it! :-)
That coyote thing was hilarious! I think he must have resented all the humans building houses on "his" land!
great list. . .
I am SO looking forward to February!
Lori,
It's funny to hear what people deal with in other parts of the country. :-)
My Kid's Mom,
That's funny. :-) February's usually cold and dreary, too, but it's that much closer to spring.
As soon as I saw Eliot my heart did cartwheels. I love him. I used to read Christie and loved her stuff too.
It's glorious here right now so I can't share your thoughts on January, but expect I will come July :)
Realy like your new blog look.
Hi Catez,
I don't know what it is about Eliot.
"Let us go, then, you and I
to where the evening is spread out against the sky
like a patient etherized upon a table."
His imagery and rhythms stay with you.
Mysteries and gardening books get me through the winter months. :-) So does turning my blog Green. :-)
It's fascinating to "meet" you who live on the "top" of the planet, and have geography and climate come alive.
